Services
Circulation Service:
Circulation service refers to the process of borrowing and returning library materials, such as books, DVDs, and other media. The circulation desk is typically the main service point in a library where patrons can check out and return items.
The circulation service usually involves the following steps:
Borrowing: Patrons present their library card or ID to borrow items. The library staff scans the items and checks if they are available for loan.
Checkout: The staff records the due date for each item borrowed and issues a receipt.
Renewals: Patrons may renew items if they need them for a longer period, as long as there are no holds on the item.
Returns: Patrons return items to the circulation desk or book drop. The staff checks the items back in and removes them from the patron's record.
Fines: Patrons may be charged overdue fines if they return items late.
Holds: Patrons may request items that are currently checked out, and the library staff will place a hold on the item and notify the patron when it becomes available.
Circulation service is an essential part of the library's mission to provide access to information and resources to its users. It helps ensure that materials are shared equitably and made available to all patrons who need them.
